How to Enroll

United Public Montessori Enrollment Process

The window for open enrollment for out-of-district students is closed, however, there are still limited seats available for those students in the Appleton Area School District entering grades 7-10 this fall.

Enrollment Procedures
United Public Montessori is open to all students provided they complete all parts of the application and fully understand the expectations of this educational model. Enrollment procedures are as follows:

1)

Fill out an enrollment application form and mail/deliver it to United Public Montessori.

2)

Attend one of the scheduled UPM introduction meetings for interested students and parents. (Contact UPM for dates and times.) Attendance at one of these meetings is required to activate a student’s application in the UPM lottery. Parents who are not able to attend any of these meetings should contact the school to make other arrangements to learn about the UPM program.

3)

Families interested in UPM who live outside of the Appleton Area School District will need to file the necessary paper work for Open Enrollment. Procedures for doing this can be found on the Appleton Area School District Website (see link at http://www.aasd.k12.wi.us/Parents/Enrollment.html).  February 7 through February 25, 2011 is the window for open enrollment for the 2011-2012 school year.

Openings will be filled by lottery drawing and not on a first-come/first-served basis. Siblings of current and former UPM students and children of UPM staff will receive enrollment preference. Waiting list spots will be determined by lottery drawing as well. Applications that are received after the February deadline are added to the waiting list in the order in which they are received.

It is imperative that both students and parents realize that UPM instruction is based on the Montessori Method.  Required attendance at UPM introduction meetings provides the opportunity for students and parents to determine whether or not UPM is the right school for that particular student.

UPM values diversity within the student body and does not discriminate in admission or retention of students on the grounds of sex, creed, age, race, disability, marital status, sexual orientation, color, national origin, religion, status with regard to public assistance or any other protected class status defined by local, state or federal law.
